Local knowledge

We're local to Robbinsdale — actually local

We're a family plumbing company, and Robbinsdale is a city we work all the time — the 1920s to '50s bungalows and ramblers around Crystal Lake and Lower Twin Lake, the compact downtown along West Broadway, and the rebuilt and remodeled homes filling in on old lots.

Robbinsdale's plumbing is a pre-war and post-war story — galvanized lines, lead-solder copper, cast-iron drains, clay laterals under old trees. Its water story changed in 2022, when the city opened a new plant that softens what used to be 24-grain water. We know what that changes at your tap, and what it doesn't.

What Robbinsdale throws at its plumbing

Softened since 2022 — with a PFAS footnote

For decades Robbinsdale's water ran about 24 grains — very hard. The city chose to build its own treatment plant rather than buy Minneapolis water, and since it opened in late 2022 the water reaches taps at roughly 5 grains per gallon. That means many homes here no longer need the softener they've always had, and we'll say so honestly. The footnote: the 2025 report shows PFOS above the new federal limit that takes effect in 2029; the city is addressing it, and reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is the practical fix if you want it out now. Sodium runs high for anyone on a restricted diet.

Bungalows with vintage plumbing — and galvanized lines the plant can't help

Robbinsdale's bungalows and ramblers carry the full pre-war and post-war set: galvanized supply lines closed down with rust, copper joined with lead solder, cast-iron drains, and original shutoffs. The city's inventory found no lead service lines but flagged 171 galvanized lines that require replacement because they once sat downstream of lead. If yours is on that list, the city will tell you; inside the house, low pressure at one fixture is the galvanized symptom, and it's fixable one run at a time.

Clay laterals, big trees, and lake-level basements

Sewer laterals in Robbinsdale are largely original clay under boulevard trees planted with the houses, now eighty to ninety years old. Roots at the joints are the routine reason a basement drain backs up, and a camera inspection is the honest way to know whether it's maintenance or a repair. Lots around Crystal Lake and the Twin Lakes sit on a high water table; sump pumps work every spring, and a finished basement deserves battery backup.

Good to know

Robbinsdale questions, answered straight

Do you offer same-day service in Robbinsdale?

Yes — same-day service is the standard in Robbinsdale, not the exception. Call and we'll give you an honest arrival window, not a four-hour guess that becomes eight.

Are you licensed to work in Robbinsdale?

Yes. We hold Minnesota Master Plumber license ${{SITE.license}}, we're insured, and when a job needs a permit we pull it through the City of Robbinsdale and meet the inspector ourselves. Permit costs are part of the flat-rate price you approve up front.

Robbinsdale softens its water now. Should I get rid of my softener?

Maybe — and we'll tell you honestly. Since the new plant opened in 2022, water arrives at roughly 5 grains, which most homes can live with unsoftened. A quick hardness test at your tap settles it. If yours is already worn out, you may not need to replace it at all.

How fast can you respond to a plumbing emergency in Robbinsdale?

Call us and we'll give you an honest arrival time. For a burst pipe, shut off the main water valve first (usually in the basement near the meter), then call. We offer same-day and emergency service.

Is the PFAS in Robbinsdale's water a problem?

The 2025 report shows PFOS above the new federal limit, which becomes enforceable in 2029, and the city is addressing it. If you want it out of your drinking water today, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is the proven fix; we'll tell you plainly whether it's worth it for your house.

The city said my galvanized service line needs replacement. What does that mean?

It once sat downstream of a lead line, so state rules flag it. The city handles the public side; the private side from the property line to the house is yours, and we do that work. It's also the moment to check the galvanized inside the house, which is usually the bigger flow problem.

Do you charge extra to come to Robbinsdale?

No. No travel surcharge, no service-call games — Robbinsdale is squarely inside our service area. You get a free estimate and a flat-rate price before any work starts, same as every city we serve.
