Local knowledge

We're local to Dayton — actually local

We're a family plumbing company, and Dayton is a city we work regularly — the 2010s and 2020s subdivisions along Highway 81 and toward Champlin and Maple Grove, the older homes near the historic village and the Crow River, and the acreage across the rural west and north on private wells.

Dayton is two cities: a fast-growing one where brand-new homes are meeting very hard water for the first time, and a rural one where wells and septic are the whole story. We handle both — softeners and first-cycle repairs on the new side, well pumps, pressure tanks, and treatment on the other.

Know your city

What Dayton throws at its plumbing

Hard water that varies by neighborhood — up to 38 grains

Dayton's five municipal wells feed three separate distribution zones, and hardness depends on which one you're in: about 19 to 22 grains in the southern area shared with Maple Grove and Champlin, roughly 30 in the northwest, and up to 38 grains in the northeast — among the hardest municipal water anywhere in the metro. The city treats for iron and manganese but doesn't soften, so a softener sized for your zone is the difference between a ten-year water heater and a six-year one. Low radium and low sodium show up in monitoring; the service-line inventory found no lead.

New houses, first repair cycle

Most of Dayton's housing is less than fifteen years old, which means builder-grade water heaters, softeners, PEX fittings, and plastic shutoff valves are all approaching the age where they fail — often together. That's a schedule, not a defect, and a walk-through tells you what's worth doing this year. The older homes near the village and the river are the opposite: galvanized lines, additions on undersized drains, and water heaters on their third replacement.

Wells across the rural third, and river-bottom water tables

Roughly a third of Dayton is rural residential on private wells — hard, iron-heavy water nobody tests but the owner. The Minnesota Department of Health recommends bacteria every year, nitrate every other year, arsenic and manganese at least once. Between the Mississippi and the Crow River, lowland lots sit on a high water table; sump pumps in the newer subdivisions run hard every spring, and battery backup is the honest recommendation for a finished basement.

Good to know

Dayton questions, answered straight

Do you offer same-day service in Dayton?

Yes — same-day service is the standard in Dayton, not the exception. Call and we'll give you an honest arrival window, not a four-hour guess that becomes eight.

Are you licensed to work in Dayton?

Yes. We hold Minnesota Master Plumber license ${{SITE.license}}, we're insured, and when a job needs a permit we pull it through the City of Dayton and meet the inspector ourselves. Permit costs are part of the flat-rate price you approve up front.

How hard is Dayton's water?

It depends on your neighborhood — the city runs three zones, from about 19 grains in the south to as much as 38 in the northeast. Any of them is hard enough to need a softener. We test at your tap, free, and size to the real number.

How fast can you respond to a plumbing emergency in Dayton?

Call us and we'll give you an honest arrival time. For a burst pipe, shut off the main water valve first (usually in the basement near the meter), then call. We offer same-day and emergency service.

Our house is new. Why would we need a plumber already?

You probably don't yet — but builder-grade heaters, softeners, and valves have similar lifespans, so a 2012 house hits them together around now. Knowing what's due beats finding out on a Saturday.

We're on a well in Dayton. Do you do well work?

Yes — pumps, pressure tanks, and treatment for the hard, iron-heavy water out here. We test first and size any equipment to real numbers.

Do you charge extra to come to Dayton?

No. No travel surcharge, no service-call games — Dayton is squarely inside our service area. You get a free estimate and a flat-rate price before any work starts, same as every city we serve.
